Reallocation of Immigrant Visa Numbers
Immigrant visa quotas would be substantially realigned under S. 1348. Our current law provides for a baseline annual quota of 140,000 immigrant visas for foreign nationals immigrating on the basis of employment. The above will be definitely true for FY2009. It might be a little less for FY2008 as they changed the system mid-year. EB2 will become current by end of FY2009 to 2010. Without legislative action, EB3 will get max relief then - vdlrao is correct.

People who feel happy at other people's sorrows don't deserve here. Today in the moment of happiness you only came to spoil the mood and want sympathy from everyone. Your previous posts were VERY offensive. Do not act innocent. I saw them saddistic remarks.
Infact a lot of backlog center people started posting offensive remarks and showed happiness when dates became unavailable. I will never support you guys after what I saw from you as reactions.

this is the first time i heard details about this bill even though he has been talking about it after meeting Bush. the news article thread has the analysis i found from an anti immigration group site. AILA has posted it as their news today however they have not yet posted the summary of the bill. The question is which one of the 3 --SKIL bill, CIR or Pence will be really voted and which ones will be put in the backburner for future or silent demise!

Hi,
I have filed my H1 (premium processing)on 26th Sep and till now I didn't receive my H1 receipt.
What could be the reasons and how i Can track about my case.
Can I track my case? is there some number where i can call discuss about my case why I didn't receive my receipt
My Lawyer called the USCIS and they are saying that they are not able to generate the receipt number?
Is somebody else faced the same issue? what could be done now?

H4 - must be allowed to work. American economy does not differenciate between an American and a legal alien. We all pay the same rent, same tax, same price for car. When our H4 spouses cannot work, we have to totally depend on one salary. In case of emergencies we hit rock bottom economically. Quite obviously our quality of life is compromised.
But what do we do about it?

What is dangerous is half knowledge. There is no such law which prohibits you from using AC-21 and doing an H-1 transfer to the new company. In fact most lawyers recommend that
prince_charming, you had mentioned that you had done H1 transfer with AC21.
I think it was mentioned in one of the posts in Murthy site that such a situation could lead to denial of I-485 as it would constitute abandonment of AOS application. One should use EAD after filling AC21.

They did it for their country and fellowmen to be free from the clutches of oppression (a much serious issue than green card i think). Although even that is extended selfishness (cos of being Indian or African American) but they dedicated their entire lives for that cause.

Yes, certainly your wife can apply for I-485, that has nothing to do with your whether your wife is on F-1 or H-1.
Her H,F etc. status continues independently of the Adjustement of Status petition. (Yes she can file even while in F-1 as she is not the primary beneficiary but your dependent for I-485)
Infact as soon as your wife get's her I-485 receipt, she is legally in status even if she loses her F, H etc. status.
Moreover I can say all this since I know someone who is an exact similar situation.
Just a quick follow up.

Hi Company A has file for H1B and it got stamped. I came to USA last week and did not join them as they were not able to provide me job and were asking me to delay my trip to USA. Now last week monday they said they will terminate my visa and report to USCIS. My new employer has yet not applied for H1B transfer. So i wanted to know how much time do i have left to do it. Suppose Company A filed for visa cancellation on 11th June, Monday. Please let me know if there would be any problem in filing for H1B transfer now as Company A has filed for cancellation before i file for H1B Transfer.
I would appreciate a detiled reply.

I think a change of leadership of IV is critical if we have to get anywhere. IV has not been able to achieve a single thing in all of its existence. Not a single thing, nada, zitto, zapata. Not disclosing the issues they are working on, not disclosing how the funds are distributed, not disclosing the lobbyist they are using. Who in the world calls that leadership!
That is the reason that no one wants to contribute. First get some results, show people results for what they have paid for. Then ask for more money. Most people I talk to are confident that IV will achieve nothing given their track record. I tried to convince a colleague to join IV. He bet with me that they will not be able to achieve even this filing I-485 issue. He bet that he will join and pay if they did.
I know IV works like dIVorced wIVes club and saying anything negative is taboo. Anyone saying anything negative is crushed with (p)curses. Only good mushy things are allowed here. So here it is: We will get our GCs by the end of the month. Hallelujah!
But I am writing this for the benefit of IV and please take this as constructively as you can. As a member, I have full right to suggest a change of leadership when I think it can help.

Maybe they should be fired by their employers. Unitedfamiles could not get family based immigration reform. They should be fired too.
